August in Miami is the month the city rewards its locals. The crowds thin out, Miami Spice takes over the dining calendar, and a fresh class of openings gives everyone a reason to brave the heat. This month's lineup captures just how wide Miami's dining spectrum has become: a caviar temple in Brickell composed with Alain Ducasse's consultancy, a ten-seat omakase hiding on Coral Way, a funky pan-Asian party room on Miami Beach, the French Riviera's most famous swimwear brand opening its first U.S. beach club, and a beloved Korean bakery chain finally landing in Wynwood.
Two are global concepts choosing Miami for U.S. debuts, two are chef-driven rooms betting on emerging corridors, and one fills the everyday layer that makes a neighborhood livable. Here is what's new in August and why locals are paying attention.
CHŌ Funky Asian Bistro | Miami Beach
📍 1209 17th St., Miami Beach, FL 33139
CHŌ opened this July just off Sunset Harbour, and it's already one of the most talked-about rooms on the beach. The brainchild of restaurateur Mohamed "Mo" Alkassar, a James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurateur, the concept is built on three pillars: a whimsical vibe, stellar Asian food, and invigorating drinks.
The menu travels across Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia: duck bao with honey-soy glaze, khao soi lamb neck, crab curry with jackfruit, and a Korean fried chicken with confit garlic kewpie destined for heavy rotation. Cocktails designed with Unfiltered Hospitality, like the Neon Geisha with Japanese whisky and yuzu sake, match the kitchen's energy.
The space, designed with creative studio MokiBaby, layers deep red neon, mirrored surfaces, hand-painted tabletops hiding easter eggs, and a glowing pagoda-framed open kitchen facing 17th Street. It's designed for staying, not for a quick in-and-out dinner.
Why Visit:
CHŌ delivers destination-level food and design at an approachable price point, an increasingly rare combination on Miami Beach. It's built for a proper night out.
Ockap Caviar & Cuisine | Brickell
📍 1060 Brickell Ave., Miami, FL 33131
Ockap opened on Brickell Avenue this spring with a premise Miami hasn't seen before: caviar on every plate. The concept was composed in Paris with Ducasse Conseil, the culinary consultancy of legendary chef Alain Ducasse, and Spanish-born chef Carlos Consuegra Graiño, an alum of Daniel Boulud and José Andrés, leads the kitchen.
Every course arrives crowned with Osetra: ten grams per course, twenty with pastas and mains. The menu is French in technique and global in spirit: caviar croquetas, lobster roll with caviar, tagliolini with dill cream, sea bass with Champagne sabayon, and a fried chicken and caviar pairing that has become the signature conversation piece.
Two tasting menus are offered: five courses at $160 and seven at $205, served in a warm, sixty-seat room of deep bronze and linen with a wine list weighted toward Champagne.
Why Visit:
For a special occasion or a serious client dinner, Ockap is the most distinctive luxury opening Brickell has seen this year.
Takay | Coral Way
📍 2296 SW 22nd St., Miami, FL 33145
Takay quietly opened on Coral Way this July, and it's the kind of place you'll want to book before the rest of the city catches on. The restaurant seats just ten guests at a time, with two nightly seatings, 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
The format is focused: one seventeen-course omakase at $250 per person, built around pristine fish and precise technique. There's no à la carte, no shortcuts, and no distractions, just the chef, the counter, and whatever is best that day.
Its arrival is part of a bigger story: the Coral Way corridor between Brickell and Coral Gables is quickly becoming one of Miami's most interesting food streets, with Takay joining a fast-growing lineup of ambitious openings.
Why Visit:
Ten seats and two seatings make this one of the most intimate high-end dining experiences in Miami. Book early. Word travels fast.
Vilebrequin La Plage | South Beach
📍 1685 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139
Yes, that Vilebrequin, the iconic French swim-trunk brand, has opened its first U.S. beach club, and it chose South Beach. Vilebrequin La Plage debuted this past May atop the UNFRAMED, Autograph Collection hotel on Washington Avenue, joining sister locations in France, Greece, and Qatar.
The concept is exactly what you'd hope: an 18,000-square-foot eighth-floor rooftop designed by Paris-based Vincent Darré, with a 175-seat restaurant serving Southern French flavors, a raw bar, a lounge, an exterior terrace, and a pool. It's a slice of St-Tropez transplanted to Miami Beach, designed for long lunches that drift into golden-hour cocktails.
Fashion-brand restaurants are having a moment in Miami, and this one arrives with decades of Mediterranean beach-club DNA behind it, developed in collaboration with hospitality group 34th Floor.
Why Visit:
It's the closest thing to a Riviera beach-club lunch without a passport, and a natural next stop after a morning on the sand.
Paris Baguette | Wynwood
📍 2217 N Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33127
Paris Baguette, the global bakery-café phenomenon that started in South Korea, opened its first Miami location this July in Wynwood. The chain already has outposts across Florida, but this is its official arrival in the city proper.
The cases are stocked with mochi donuts, chiffon cakes, and pastry-case classics, alongside croissants, quiches, salads, and breakfast sandwiches, an easy morning stop before a gallery walk or a workday in the neighborhood.
Its arrival alongside a wave of new cafés and bars says a lot about where Wynwood is heading: less late-night only, more all-day neighborhood.
Why Visit:
A reliable, crave-worthy bakery is exactly what Wynwood's growing residential crowd has been missing, and the mochi donuts alone are worth the trip.
Miami's Continued Evolution
August 2026's openings tell a clear story: Miami's dining scene is deepening, not just expanding. Global luxury concepts like Ockap and Vilebrequin La Plage are choosing Miami for U.S. debuts, hyper-focused chef-driven rooms like Takay are thriving outside the traditional hotspots, and neighborhood staples like Paris Baguette are filling in the everyday layer that makes a city livable. With Miami Spice discounting more than 200 restaurants at the same time, there has never been a better month to eat your way through the city.
